The idea for this book actually started out as just stories I would tell to my children. I would start the stories and they would take turns finishing it. I realized how hard it was for them to be creative and think ‘outside of the box’ when we first started doing this. I finally decided to put one of the stories on paper, which turned into a whole book.

I think it is so important for children to be able to use their imagination. Everything in their world is so defined, cut and dry. Even in school, when they write essays they are given strict guidelines. There is no tangible room for creativity. I found that reading was the only place where they could create their own little world in their minds. I would also discuss the story with my children when it was finished.
